I’m Robin Janel Smith, a digital arts professional and an educator with a passion for instructional design. With years of experience teaching and developing game design courses at for both higher ed and K-12 students, I’ve gained skills in creating engaging, learner-focused experiences. Through the Learning Design & Technology Certificate (LDTC) program, I am deepening my understanding of learning theory and instructional design, and I’m excited to continue applying these skills to create impactful learning solutions.
I studied both the technical and creative aspects of audio engineering and music production. My coursework combined music theory with hands-on training in sound recording, mixing, and production, preparing me for work in the music and entertainment industries.
At Regent, I focused on film and television production, specifically post-production editing. I learned advanced editing techniques and visual storytelling skills, working on projects that allowed me to bring stories to life through narrative and non-narrative editing.
My M.F.A. program combined creativity with digital technology. I explored various forms of digital art, including video game design, creative coding, web development, and digital storytelling, while mastering the tools needed to create professional digital media across different platforms.
I’m currently working on my Graduate Certificate in Learning Design and Technology at the University of Maryland Global Campus. This program is helping me sharpen my skills in instructional design and how to use technology to create better learning experiences. Here are the courses I’m taking as part of the certificate.
